ABOUT

The electric guitar is one of, if not the most versatile musical instrument.  This is in no small part due to the wonderful vast garden of effects pedals.  Flower Pedals was started by electrical engineer and avid guitarist, Matt Kauffman to plant some new and original seeds in that garden.

In order to assure that these seeds grow into great flowers, there are a few special watering cans in our shed that we use:

  • Originality:  No genetically cloned flowers here.  With each one of our designs we strive to add something new to the flower bed.
  • Small Footprints:  Flower bed real estate is at a premium for guitarists with a taste for a variety of pedals.  With each one of our designs, we use the smallest possible enclosure.  Our pedals are designed with high quality surface mount components and have meticulously designed PCBs to help achieve this goal.
  • High Quality Components:  We don’t plant our flowers in just any old dirt, we use high quality soil.  Rather than using standard triple pole footswitches, we use relays and soft touch footswitches (except for in mini pedals, due to size constraints).  Relays last longer than mechanical switches, and also allow for silent switching.  We also use surface mount components, which have lower tolerances, smaller footprints, and are more reliable.
  • Signal Care:  There’s nothing worse than when two different flowers have to fight for water because of how their root systems are intertwined.  In many cases you can end up with two dead flowers that by themselves would have been just lovely.  Some effects pedals don’t play well with others due to their lack of being properly buffered on their inputs and outputs (looking at you, fuzz face).  Every Flower Pedal takes care to ensure that your signal is taken care of, so that the pedal can be used anywhere in your chain without breaking down.  We take special care to ensure that each circuit works properly by seeing the impedances it likes, while maintaining buffers.  Each Flower Pedal is also True Bypass, so that when you turn it off, it’s like it isn’t even there.

All Flower Pedals are designed and built by hand in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  We hope you enjoy your pedals.  New sound is blooming!
